The house hunt continues...

So, Saturday we went looking at houses. It was very encouraging because out of the three we looked at, two were very good prospects.
The first one we looked at was a nice home. It was 2000 sq ft and right next to A.J.'s office. a little more than half a mile away. It's near good schools and was in pretty good shape. It was pretty clean and the pain and carpet all looked pretty good. When we left, we were thinking about making an offer. The back yard was VERY small though and there was no pantry. Those were things we could have lived with though because the basement had a couple of great storage rooms. The thing that would have been very hard to live with right now with little kids is that it only had two bedrooms together upstairs and then two bedrooms together down in the basement. I will not leave my little kids two levels down from me. It's just not happening.

Off we went to look at two more houses. The next house was about 1.5 miles from A.J's work. It's not even worth mentioning though. It was not at all upgraded and was built in the 70s and was out of our price range a little anyway, so even if they came down into our price range it wouldn't have been enough for us to have the money to fix it up. We looked (not even at the entire house) and left. That was that. Definitely not the house for us.

The third house we looked at was GREAT! It really was beautiful. It is a short sale but it looks like it has been well taken care of. It was the biggest of the homes we have looked at so far. IT was 2830 sq ft. Just over double what our current house is.

This house is three miles away from A.J.'s work and is a little further North of where we had initially been looking, in Lindon. It's a nice small little town between Orem and Pleasant Grove. The schools are great and the house is on the bench. It's in a secluded, beautiful little neighborhood.

It has three decent sized bedrooms on the second floor and two full bathrooms. The master suite is beautiful with vaulted ceilings.

On the main floor, you walk in to a nice tiled entryway. There is a good sized coat closet (which we have never had). From the entry, you walk into a nice living room with a fire place and around to a dining room. Straight back from the entry and past the stairs is a breakfast nook and the kitchen is net to it behind the living room. The kitchen also has an opening to the dining room. The breakfast nook has french doors out to the back yard with the mountain right behind the house.

If you go down half a level there is a large family room. There is also laundry room, half bath and a large closet on that level. The door from the two car garage is on that level also and there is a door to the back yard.

Down another half level, in the basement, are three more bedrooms and another full bath. Also Some storage areas. 5 or 6 of the bedrooms all have walk-in closets.

This house is a short sale so it should give us some time to make sure it is the home we want and sell our current house. We can back out at any time if we need to because it is a short sale.

Most short sale houses need some work. This is no exception. Fortunately, it's not too bad though. Most of what it needs is some deep cleaning. Carpets, walls and bathrooms especially. We will slowly have to replace all the carpet but it is livable after a good cleaning. Everything but the laundry room, entryways, bathrooms and kitchen have carpets, have carpet right now. We will replace most of the carpet with carpet but we would like to replace the living room and dining room with hardwood. Of course this is if nothing to disastrous is wrong with the house and we get it. It won't be the end of the world if we didn't get the house but it sure does seem like it would work great for our family!

Does your realtor have an inspection man who can check the things that normal people can't see?

It sounds great!

We pay for an inspection when we know everything else has gone through. Because it is a short sale we can pull out of the deal at any time for any reason so if the inspector find something really wrong we don't have to buy the house. We just wanted to look through again in case there was something really obvious wrong with the house before we start the process.
