Mark is ONE!!!

Despite a rough week, Mark did indeed turn a year old on Tuesday. On Monday he was diagnosed with the early stages of pneumonia and was immediately put on antibiotics. He is now doing much better. The fever is gone and his lungs are improving.
He had his one year well child check today and was 15lbs 8oz with a very wet diaper on. He's just about 15lbs. He is doing really well in his verbal skills and fine motor skill. At or beyond where a one year old should be. We are concerned that he is behind where he should be in his gross motor skills. While he will occasionally pull up to standing and has for a while, it is very difficult for him and rare. He cannot stand steadily on his own either. He is not anywhere close to walking. We want to make sure we are not missing anything so Dr.Taylor suggested we take him to a pediatrician to have blood work and other tests preformed there. If he is as behind as we think he might be he will most likely qualify for Early Intervention (many preemies born at 31 weeks start with this as soon as they are out of the hospital) and get any sort of occupational, physical or other type of therapy he might need.

So Mark is doing ok. He's a preemie and so we are watching carefully to make sure he doesn't fall behind. We are happy to get him help if he needs it! The doctor was very impressed with his verbal skills and fine motor skills but something isn't right about his gross motor skills and we need to make sure it's not a big deal or if it is we need to help him overcome this delay in any way possible!

Happy late birthday to little Mark! Sounds like you've had quite the spring. Hopefully summer will prove to be a bit more calm for you. Hope all is going well now!

Sorry, I made that last comment while signed in with my "junk email" address. Didn't want you to think some weirdo was stalking your blog! It's just me!
