Luke has an infection and reflux now. They are trying to figure out now if the infection is viral or bacterial. He was set to come home today. He was doing well until last night when he went downhill very fast. He is going into bradycardia (which is when his heart rate drops dangerously low). He did not do this before last night. Mark did sometimes but it was expect from a baby as little as Mark, with Luke, he's bigger and done perfectly from the beginning, so this is very concerning. He's also not holding his temperature and his oxygen levels drop every once in a while and he stopped taking feedings orally because he is too weak. He also has reflux like all of our other kids have. If this were the only problem, he would be ok to come home in a day or two though. The reflux meds they started today are already helping him.
Please keep Luke in your prayers. An infection can be very serious and they suspect it is RSV. RSV is hard enough on full term newborns or preemies that are bigger but on a brand new preemie, well, it could be devastating. So far he is doing very well if it is RSV but he just got sick and we have no idea how things will go from here.

(((hugs))) I'll pray, I hope it's not RSV. And even if it is, I guess it's a good thing they gave him that Synagis, maybe that will tone down the severity.
