Back to School

A.J. and I took Leata to Back to School night at Noah Webster Academy last night. Of course she is starting kindergarten so it was more like Starting School Night. I thought this new background for the blog was nice for school starting soon.

At Back to School Night there was a meeting for new families to the school first (charter schools are different from regular public schools so there is some stuff we needed to know). Then the new lunch service that will be serving the schools lunch this year served a small dinner.

They had a little fair outside with a bouncy castle and activities. The kids were also playing on the playground. When we were finished out there we went in to meet Leata's teacher again. We met her at the Open house and really fell in love with her instantly. She is SO sweet and just perfect for kindergarten. She's been teaching kindergarten a long time and has everything down just right. Leata adores her. She had a little presentation, we filled out papers and signed Leata up for her kindergarten assessment next week and then on August 30, Leata will start kindergarten. She is so excited and keeps telling me she will not miss me one little bit while she is gone. She says she will be having too much fun learning and making friends.

Leata is going to Morning kindergarten from 830-1130. On Fridays she goes until 1230 though and gets to eat lunch at school. This is the first year they have done that. Leata is very excited to have lunch at school. It was a great night and I feel very good about the school, her teacher, her teacher's aid (who is there all the time and a certified teacher so she really gets two teachers) and that her class is only 20 students.
